About the Galápagos Islands

Day 1: Arrived on Baltra Island in the Galapagos and transferred to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island

to meet our guide, yacht crew and 10 other fellow travellers from Denmark, Holland, Germany, England and Israel

and our 69ft (22m) yacht "the little red sail boat" Encantada

First port of call, the Charles Darwin Research Station to see marine iguanas (black), lizards, land iguanas (yellow), crabs, and giant land tortoises. Sir David Attenborough would be proud...
About the research centre

Unfortunately we were 2 years too late to meet this famous island inhabitant. They can live up to 150 years!
About Lonesome George

Land iguanas

A quick stop at the fish stall on the pier at Puerto Ayora, full of pelicans and sea lions...
...before our first boat-based adventure... That evening, we travelled 12 hours by boat to get to Genovesa island. Let's just say that sea sickness tablets were a good invention!

The tortoises were either well trained or you happened to be there on one of their birthdays..
